The Construction of "Green Factory" by Battery Science &Technology Helps the Green Development of Power Battery Industry

In recent years, the concept of green and low-carbon development has formed a global consensus. China will firmly follow the path of ecological priority and green development, promote the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development, and build a modernization of harmonious coexistence between human and nature. By continuously advancing the energy revolution, China is transforming from an a nation leading in energy to a world energy power. The way of energy production and consumption has achieved a historic change of clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient concept. It has embarked on a new journey of high-quality development. Green has become the distinctive background of China in the new era, and green development has become a prominent feature of Chinese path to modernization.

In the global context of carbon neutrality and carbon dioxide emissions peak, energy technology is undergoing tremendous changes. How to make the best use of limited resources is the key focus of industrial development. The power battery industry represented by "lithium battery", as an important foundation of the new energy industry, plays an indispensable role.

 With the increase of the proportion of green electricity and the penetration rate of pure electric vehicles, the main responsibility of carbon neutrality will be transferred to the manufacturing of automotive materials. Industry research points out that the comprehensive utilization of waste power batteries has obvious carbon reduction effect, which can achieve 0.19 tons per kilowatt-hour and reduce carbon emissions by 24%. Therefore, strengthening the recycling capacity construction of waste batteries, such as waste battery recycling, disassembly and treatment, remanufacturing, resource utilization, will be the basic guarantee for the deep decarbonization of the entire industrial chain, and is an important issue that must be solved for the healthy development of the new energy industry in the future.

 As a leader in power battery recycling and a core participant in the formulation of national standards for power battery recycling, Battery Science&Technology  Co., Ltd(hereinafter referred to as "BST") under Luen Mei Group fully understands the responsibility of green development, always adheres to green and low-carbon development, and is committed to building a closed loop of the power battery life-cycle industrial chain, focusing on the echelon use, recycling and regeneration of power batteries, to build an ecological chain of battery financial services and recycling to form a unique and innovative development model.

In 2022, Tianjin Battery Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Tianjin Battery"), a subsidiary of BST, started the green factory certification work. As the first power battery "electrical physical disassembly" base in China, Tianjin Battery adheres to the development mode of "green production+intelligent manufacturing", and takes the establishment and improvement of green production management system as the core competitiveness of the enterprise's medium and long-term development.

Tianjin Battery is a pilot unit for the recycling and utilization of new energy vehicles in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. It covers an area of 60 mu and has a planned processing capacity of 50000 tons. Phase I has been put into operation in May 2021. The project has solved the problems of electrolyte condensation and battery dust pollution in the process of electrified disassembly, and achieved the production capacity, product compliance and stable and continuous operation. Its core domestic leading technology---electrified physical disassembly, free of waste water, exhaust gas and waste residue, is environmentally friendly, efficient and safe. It has been identified by the China National Resources Recycling Association, China Environmental Protection Industry Association as "leading technology in China, and international leading in automation equipment and control."

At present, Tianjin Battery has passed ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 system certification, and is actively applying for ISO14064 greenhouse gas certification/verification certification, ISO14067 carbon footprint system certification and ISO50001 energy management system certification. After the certification of "green factory", Tianjin Battery will further deepen the green and low-carbon development, continue to carry out LCA product life-cycle impact assessment, PAS2060 carbon neutralization certification, ISO16949 certification of the quality management system of the international general automobile industry, and continue to push the "double carbon"(carbon neutrality and carbon dioxide emissions peak) work to a new height.
