SHOWAY ARTS SPACE for FAMILIES Opens

On January 16, the SHOWAY ARTS SPACE for FAMILIES in the SHOWAY complex adjacent to the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) located in Hongqiao held its grand opening after years of meticulous preparation.

SHOWAY ARTS SPACE for FAMILIES is situated at the heart of the first phase of the SHOWAY mega commercial complex. The theater space, meticulously crafted by an internationally acclaimed architectural and signage design team which has won multiple international design awards, is tailored for children aged 0-10 and their parents. Following its grand opening, the theater will continuously showcase top-quality performances from around the globe. From venue planning, program introduction, and supporting facilities to operational philosophy, every aspect is centered on children as well as arts and humanities, as the theater is dedicated to becoming the cultural and artistic saloon for families in Qingpu District and a new landmark for parent-child cultural performances in Shanghai and even the Yangtze River Delta region.

SHOWAY ARTS SPACE for FAMILIES aims to create an all-age-friendly performing arts venue. The theater features raked seating and an interactive area for toddlers, accommodating approximately 190 to 220 audiences. Onstage and offstage interactions are nearly seamless, facilitating a truly immersive theatrical experience.

According to the plan for SHOWAY ARTS SPACE for FAMILIES, over 30 international original children's plays will be introduced throughout the year of 2024. These productions will be presented by renowned theater troupes from around the globe, including France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Denmark, Argentina, the Netherlands, the United States, Australia, and more. Among them, over half of the plays will have their Asian premieres. This lineup ensures that family audiences can experience a wide array of performances without leaving Shanghai, offering them the opportunity to witness productions from all around the world.
